I Believe in You 2014

Happy New Year New City Church!

We've just come out of a wonderful Holiday season! This Christmas we had our first ever Candlelight Service at New City and we loved getting to celebrate Jesus in this special way. We worshipped together and heard an uplifting word from our pastor. And, of course, everyone enjoyed getting the kids in on the fun with a special Christmas play! We look forward to celebrating many more Christmases together as a Church family!

Now we are looking forward into 2014 with anticipation of a year crowned with the goodness of our God. Psalm 65:11 says "You crown the year with Your goodness and Your paths drip with abundance." We are believing that God will abundantly bless us with more of Himself this year and we are excited! And more than that, this year we are believing in God's faithfulness for each other because we know that when we stand together as the body of Christ, our God is for us and NOTHING can stand against us!

We are starting 2014 off with a new sermon series called "I Believe in You". How does it feel to know someone's in your corner-- coaching you and cheering you on? Now imagine if entire generations could experience support like this. This is the role of the Church. This year we are going to learn what can happen when we develop relationships that shape us, share insight, and speak into our souls: I Believe in You.

Carols

We had an amazing time celebrating Thanksgiving this past weekend at Community Sunday and we are happy to say that the Christmas Season is upon us! It is with great joy that we enter into the celebration of Christ our Saviour coming to dwell among us on Earth. New City Church is so excited about our upcoming series called "Carols".  We will explore the songs born from the joy of our Lord entering this world! Our God is with us: in answered promises, realized dreams and refreshed hope. How could we help but sing?

Join us this week as we unpack the Christmas carol "O Holy Night", a favorite of many. In the midst of much imperfection, the night Christ was born can be considered one of the most perfect nights ever in the History of mankind. We can't wait to discover the true message behind this song with you this weekend!

Giving Thanks

New City Church had a great time last weekend wrapping up the end of our "Friending" series with a an encouraging word from Pastor Dean about the blessing of being in a strong community! We can't wait to celebrate Thanksgiving together with our New City family this weekend with food and fellowship on Community Sunday!

At the heart of the Thanksgiving tradition is something very fundamental to the Christian faith: thankfulness. The Word of God says to "enter into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise." An attitude of thankfulness to the Lord for what He has done is what gets us into His presence. It is truly rewarding to stop and take time to consider what the Lord has done for us and give thanks with a grateful heart. No matter what trials we have faced this year and regardless of our own shortcomings-- God has been good and gracious to us all. We are a grateful congregation and JESUS is at the center of it all.

"All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.  Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day."

--2 Corinthians 4:15-16

At New City Church we are grateful for YOU. We pray that the Lord blesses you this Holiday Season with an outpouring of His abundant blessing on your life and a grateful heart!

Life Groups!

Life Groups are kicking off this week at NCC! We are in the middle of an awesome series called "Friending" and Pastor Dean has been challenging us with the necessity of having meaningful relationships that we can count on. We have to be present in each other's lives!

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
--Hebrews 10:25

At NCC we know that Christ centered relationships and community are so important.  We believe that being part of a Life Group is what it means to really be part of the body of Christ. The real life change and growth happens when we are in small groups where we can share our stories, pray for each other and seek God together. We are so excited about what lies ahead for our life groups this year! If you were unable to sign up for a group during Life Group Launch, it's not too late! Listed below are the Life Group Options available to you. If you want to be part of one, all you have to do is send an email. We would LOVE to have you be part of what we're doing!

Special Guest Speaker!

Every Wednesday evening New City Church has an outreach at Chinese University helping students from mainland China to improve their English. We call this outreach "English Club" and it is great way we can serve together as a church and be a light in our community.

This Sunday after Community Sunday we are excited to host a guest speaker from Kun Ming China. He has been doing this type of outreach since 1983 and has a wealth of knowledge to offer on how we can better serve our community in this way!

Community Sunday: Sunday, October 26!

At New City Church we are all about Community. Community Sunday is one of our favorite ways to spend time together as a church family. Once a month we share a meal, pot-luck style, after Sunday worship. What better way to enjoy enjoy each other's company than sharing home cooked food!

The next community Sunday is coming up this weekend: Sunday, October 26! Bring enough food for your family plus 2.. Can't wait to let the good times roll!
